Abundant Life Centre was pioneered by Pastor John Watson, who relocated from the Catlins in the South of New Zealand, to Dunedin, Otago, in answer to a call from the Lord. John is also the founder of Wake Up Ministry. You can read John’s powerful testimony about when he met Jesus Christ here.

Beginning in 2012 with a series of “Encounter” meetings, Abundant Life Centre (ALC) developed into a church fellowship group. Initially meeting at Bayfield High School in Andersons Bay, it then responded to an invitation in early 2014 to begin meeting at the “Hub”, a hall adjacent to a Dunedin Kindergarten in Corstorphine. At the end of 2017, ALC gatherings moved to South Dunedin, at another “hub” – a lovely room in part of the Cargill Enterprises complex in Hillside Rd, South Dunedin. However, with a larger space needed for growth and more activities, a provision came in the form of the building previously used by Arc (aka Gloryfire), at 14 Carroll St, also accessible from 31 Stafford St, Central Dunedin. ALC is now having both morning and evening services there, along with the Tuesday night prayer meeting.

ALC folk are a diverse bunch, from lighthearted to serious, but all with a hope of eternity.
